Trados Studio Freelance - Annual Saver is a subscription desktop license that allows you to make an annual payment for using the software over a period of 12 months, for working on your Desktop and in the Cloud.
This license will require you to make an annual payment to renew the subscription, and you will always receive the latest version of the software (no need to purchase an upgrade license). A Software Maintenance Agreement Level 1 (SMA 1) is included.

The PERPETUAL license can be used indefinitely and has a once-off cost paid upfront. TAKE NOTE: this type of license is no longer available to FREELANCERS. However, the perpetual license for large entities (corporations, organisations, government departments, etc.) is available to purchase. This type of license usually is accompanied by a software maintenance agreement paid for annually. An example of a perpetual license for Corporations is the Trados Studio 2024 Professional license, which is a desktop-installed license, with cloud capabilities and project management functions.
Perpetual licenses will over time become out-dated as this license type must keep up software technology advances and changes to the underlying hardware and operating system that it requires to function optimally. This will necessitate additional future costs to upgrade the license to a newer version to function optimally. This license type provides an upgrade path that eventually will come to an end, whereafter engineering and technical support will come to a close.
The SUBSCRIPTION license provides for the utilisation of the software over a limited time period, which allows payment per user at a lower upfront cost per user. The annual subscription includes access to support services, the latest updates and automatic upgrades to new versions of the software that may become available during the subscription period.
An example of a subscription license for Freelancers is the Trados Studio 2024 Freelance (Annual Saver), which is a desktop-installed license, with cloud capabilities. Another example of a subscription license available to Freelancers is the Trados Go (Annual Saver) license - this subscription provides the Translator access an Online Editor for performing their translation work (this is not a desktop-installed version).
Subscription licenses always make the latest, up-to-date features and upgrades available to the user in real-time, and therefore with minimal compatibility issues.
